How I Researched a 105-Year-Old Murder Mystery

Deb has been researching her Roots since the eighth grade. She studied history at Cleveland State and has a MLIS from Kent State.
She is a retired reference librarian in a public library and manuscripts processor at the Western Reserve Historical Society Library in Cleveland.
She won the 2014 OGS writing contest and has published many genealogical and historical articles.

Barbara Gearhart Matt of suburban St. Louis, Missouri, a native of Marietta, will speak about her experiences translating the Washington County German church records of Pastor Daniel Hirsch, including the Berg Church, and her plans to publish them through Amazon.  She traveled to Germany in May and visited her ancestral village of Dittweiler, where the Gearhart ancestral home still stands.

He is also the editor of the "Cline Times" newsletter and has been an avid Genealogy researcher for over 30 years. He has authored books on the Cline and Dakin surnames and is the founder and chairman of the Newcomerstown Genealogy Roundtable. Mr. Dakin belongs to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, along with other genealogical organizations.
